Sustainability

Six chocolate brands, one set of standards. All six are certified B Corps. We use single-origin cocoa, leave out palm oil, and start making much of our chocolate at origin in Colombia, so more of the value stays with the people who grow it.

Shared standards

What all six brands have in common

Each brand has its own character. The standards behind them are the same.

6 of 6

Certified B Corps

Every brand is independently assessed on its social and environmental performance, accountability and transparency.

100%

Single-origin cocoa

All six brands use single-origin cocoa, so we know where it comes from and who grows it.

0

Palm oil

All six brands are palm oil free.

Colombia

Made at origin

Much of our chocolate begins in Colombia, where we partner with Luker, a family-owned B Corp that is committed to improving the lives of the farmers who grow the cocoa.

More value stays where the cocoa grows

Impact Trade

We start making our chocolate at origin

Most cocoa is shipped as raw beans to factories in Europe or the US. The countries that grow it miss out on the skilled, better-paid part of the work: making the chocolate.

We work the other way. With Colombian partners, we make our couverture (a semi-finished chocolate) in Colombia. This creates jobs, builds skills and keeps more of the value in the communities that grow the cocoa. And because the chocolate travels less, every bar has a smaller carbon footprint.

Made Uncommon partners with producers who pay above-market prices and invest in farmer training, and works with independent, family-run businesses.

What Impact Trade means

When others say traceability, they mean beans. We mean humans.
